Background

This is a part-time lecturer position at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.

Responsibilities

• Teach the principles of early childhood development and education including developmental psychology, play-based learning, and early literacy and numeracy.
• Supervise students in developing age-appropriate learning materials, lesson plans, and assessment tools for early childhood learners.
• Conduct research on early childhood developmental milestones, effective pedagogies, and early intervention strategies.
• Train students in creating inclusive, nurturing, and child-centered learning environments.
• Develop teaching materials on health, nutrition, and care for young children in educational contexts.
• Guide students in understanding the importance of family involvement and community engagement in early childhood education.
• Collaborate with early childhood centers and NGOs on program development and teacher training.
• Setting, moderating, invigilating and marking examinations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Applicants should hold a PhD or a master's degree qualification in a relevant field from a recognized academic institution; and possess vast teaching or industry experience at undergraduate/postgraduate levels.
• Applicants must have served as a Lecturer or equivalent industry experience in a university or institution recognized by the Senate of JOOUST.
• Demonstrate potential for university teaching and/or research.
• At least two (2) years teaching experience in a university.
• Master's holders registered for PhD may be considered.
• Be registered with the relevant professional body as required by the field of specialization.
