Spear Sharp Limited is a budding publishing firm that seeks to recruit a contract go-getter sales person to be in charge of Nairobi metropolitan area.
Spear Sharp Education is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Editorial Assistant to support the editorial team in the development and production of high-quality CBC-aligned educational materials. The role involves assisting in manuscript preparation, proofreading, coordination with authors, and ensuring consistency in content presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in editing and proofreading manuscripts for grammar, clarity, and consistency.
- Support the editorial team in aligning content with CBC and KICD guidelines.
- Format manuscripts according to publishing standards and house style.
- Track revisions and manage document versions.
- Liaise with authors, illustrators, and designers to ensure smooth workflow.
- Conduct basic fact-checking and content verification.
- Prepare documents for typesetting and final production.
- Maintain editorial schedules and follow up on deadlines.
- Support administrative tasks within the editorial department.
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Literature, Journalism, or related field.
Professional Requirements
- At least 1–3 years’ experience in editing, publishing, or academic writing support.
- Familiarity with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) is an added advantage.
- Excellent command of written English (UK standard preferred).
- Basic understanding of editorial processes and publishing workflows.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in educational publishing or curriculum support
- Basic knowledge of layout/design tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign)
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple manuscripts
