Background
The United Nations Girls' Education Initiative (UNGEI) is a global partnership committed to advancing girls' education. UNGEI works to ensure that all girls, particularly those in crisis-affected and marginalized contexts, have access to quality education and learning opportunities.
Responsibilities
The Education Specialist will be responsible for:
- Providing technical expertise and strategic guidance on girls' education programming.
- Supporting the development and implementation of UNGEI strategies and initiatives in Kenya.
- Building and maintaining partnerships with government ministries, UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
- Conducting research, analysis, and advocacy on issues related to girls' education.
- Monitoring and evaluating program progress and impact.
- Contributing to knowledge management and sharing best practices.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Education, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in education programming, with a focus on girls' education.
- Strong understanding of the education sector in Kenya and the challenges facing girls' education.
- Proven experience in program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Swahili is an asset.
Experience
At least 5 years of experience in education programming, with a focus on girls' education.
