Job Overview

The Electrical Foreman will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and supervising all electrical-related activities on the construction site. This includes all internal and external electrical works, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and schedule timelines.

This role requires excellent communication skills, as you'll collaborate with various people, such as construction workers, architects and engineers.

Job Description

  • Supervise all internal and external electrical installations, including wiring, distribution boards, lighting systems, power outlets, and earthing systems.
  • Coordinate daily tasks for electricians, helpers, and subcontractors to ensure planned work is completed as per schedule.
  • Liaise with other site foremen, engineers, and contractors to avoid clashes with civil, plumbing and finishing works.
  • Ensure all necessary materials, tools, and equipment are available and in good condition before commencing work.
  • Ensure all electrical installations comply with approved drawings and project specifications.
  • Verify that power supply has been properly installed and connected to all relevant points, including distribution boards on all floors.
  • Oversee electrical reticulation works, including main supply connections, sub-circuit distribution, and cable routing.
  • Map out lighting points, power outlets, appliance circuits and dedicated lines for items like water pumps.
  • Conduct pre-commissioning tests using insulation resistance testers, earth loop impedance testers, and continuity testers prior to energization.
  • Inspect and verify that all cables are properly routed, secured and protected in conduits or trunking as per specification.

Job Requirements

  • Formal Education: Minimum of a Diploma or Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation Technology from a recognized technical institution.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of active field experience in residential or commercial electrical installations, with at least 1–2 years serving in a supervisory role.
  • Valid EPRA Class C License or above (e.g., Class B), legally authorizing the holder to oversee and sign off on electrical installations.
  • NCA Accreditation as a construction supervisor or site foreman in the electrical trade category.
  • Ability to read architectural drawings and convert them into precise electrical layouts.
  • Qualified to run mandatory pre-commissioning tests using insulation resistance testers, earth loop impedance testers and continuity testers.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and codes, with the ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Service-oriented, responds quickly to site needs and develops practical solutions.
  • Results-driven, delivering work on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with focus on quality, safety, and timely delivery.
