Job Highlight:
In this role, you will be an integral member of the Employee Relations team and will be responsible for the implementation of WRI’s updated Safe, Equitable and Inclusive Workplace policy.
WRI is seeking to fill one position located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Nairobi, Kenya, or Kigali, Rwanda. This position will require flexible work hours to serve an international employee population with an adjusted work schedule to accommodate evening work hours.
What you will do:
- Promotes treatment of employees in a fair, respectful, and consistent manner that works within the framework of WRI’s core organizational values.
- Promptly conducts impartial investigations in response to complaints and allegations of wrongdoing.
- Prepares written investigative reports.
- Supports and guides in-country HR colleagues to conduct investigations within their assigned areas of ownership.
- Track and maintain the flow of investigations from intake to the final disposition phase.
- Implements decisions arising out of investigations, including conducting any necessary long-term follow-up.
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of internal governance requirements, compliance and reporting responsibilities, and related legal benchmarks.
- Ensures records are maintained and all data stored in HR systems is accurate and meets record keeping requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality at all stages of the investigation and post-investigation.
- Fosters effective relationships with team members and team leaders throughout the organization to promote positive employee relations and a high level of employee satisfaction and engagement.
- Conducts employee trainings in support of policy implementation as needed.
What you will need:
- Over 5 years of relevant work experience in employee relations/complaint investigations (or related experience) across multiple countries.
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required.
- International non-profit experience preferred.
- Ability to conduct all aspects of complex workplace investigations.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of country-specific employment laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
- Strong skills in effectively conducting investigatory interviews.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret and dissect complex issues.
- Strong written communication skills to write clear and logical reports, correspondence, and summaries.
- Strong oral communication skills to effectively convey and explain information to all levels of employees and management.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen well, demonstrate sensitivity to all parties, and facilitate resolutions with a culturally diverse population.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Requirements: Existing work authorization is required. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.
