Role Summary:

Afro Sayari Resort is seeking an experienced Events Manager to drive event venue bookings, oversee end-to-end event execution, and ensure exceptional client and guest experiences. The role involves sales and business development, event planning and operations, client relations, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales & Business Development:

  • Drive event venue bookings for corporate retreats, weddings, social gatherings, and large-scale entertainment events.
  • Conduct site tours for prospective clients and present tailored event packages.
  • Develop pricing strategies, quotations, and contracts in alignment with management guidelines.

2. Event Planning & Operations:

  • Oversee end-to-end event execution from initial consultation through layout setup, menu selection, media/AV, and post-event tear-down.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (F&B, kitchen, groundskeeping, security, housekeeping) to ensure seamless workflow on event days.
  • Manage vendor relationships for external service providers (decor, PA sound systems, DJs, photography, entertainers).

3. Client & Guest Relations:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for event hosts on event days to ensure all client expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Handle client queries, custom requests, and resolve operational bottlenecks swiftly on-site.
  • Collect client feedback post-event to track satisfaction and refine operational processes.

4. Leadership & Cost Control:

  • Supervise setup teams, casual event staff, and service crew to maintain high standards of hospitality and safety.
  • Monitor event budgets, labor allocations, and material costs to ensure departmental profitability.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Public Relations, Event Management, Project Management, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in event management or hospitality sales, preferably within a resort, hotel, or major event venue in Kenya.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated track record in corporate event sales and wedding management.
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent leadership, time management, and multi-tasking capabilities under pressure.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
