General Purpose

Our client, a market leader in the Food & Dairy Products sector, is seeking to recruit an experienced and results-driven Exports Logistics Lead to oversee and optimize export operations. The role will be responsible for end-to-end export logistics, compliance, and coordination to ensure timely, cost-effective, and efficient international shipments.

Location: Tilisi - Near Limiru Town | Gross Salary: Ksh. 100,000 – 130,000

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and approve export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, export permits, and shipping instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee export shipments from origin to destination.
  • Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, clearing agents, and transporters for efficient cargo movement.
  • Negotiate freight rates, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal teams on export logistics matters.
  • Provide shipment updates and resolve customer inquiries promptly.
  • Support sales and customer service teams on delivery timelines and Incoterms guidance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to customs delays, port congestion, carrier capacity, and regulatory changes.
  • Manage contracts and SLAs with freight forwarders, shipping lines, transporters, and insurers.
  • Monitor and evaluate vendor performance based on cost, reliability, and service KPIs.
  • Ensure proper handling of temperature-sensitive cargo.
  • Oversee container loading, palletization, and stuffing, including placement of temperature monitoring devices in reefer containers.
  • Oversee weekly and monthly export shipment plans, upcountry deliveries, and branch transfers.
  • Align export plans with production, warehousing, and inventory levels.
  • Forecast export volumes and capacity requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management or a related business field.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in export operations, international logistics, or shipping.
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
  • Experience working with KENTRADE systems is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
