MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Field Officer, Landscape Restoration will work under the supervision and guidance of the Programme Officer, Ethiopia. S/he will also work closely with the relevant project manager, technical specialists, and project officers at different levels. S/he will be responsible for the oversight and implementation of the project to ensure quality planning, budgeting, implementation and oversight of the project for timely delivery of quality results. A key responsibility of the role is to establish strong coordination and effective linkages among all major stakeholders at the field and district levels to ensure the successful implementation of project activities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Lead field-based project implementation, initiate coordination and collaboration with government and local communities.
- Plan, implement, and monitor field activities, ensuring timely and effective execution, and reporting
- Organize and facilitate community and provincial-level meetings, training sessions, and workshops.
- Ensure that all field activities are aligned with project goals, timelines, and donor compliance requirements
- Develop and maintain detailed work plans for field activities in coordination with programme teams.
- Supervise and provide on-site technical support to effectively and efficiently implement the project activities.
- Collect and compile field data, stakeholders feedback, and reports from community engagements.
- Provide technical support in quantifying water replenishment gains in the project implementation sites as a result of the project’s restoration measures
- Identify challenges during field implementation and propose practical mitigation solutions.
- Support the project senior officers in setting up regular internal coordination meetings, minuting meetings, tracking progresses and follow-up of agreed action points.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education;
- A Masters’ degree, preferably in Natural resources management, forestry, water resources, environmental management or related fields.
Work Experience;
- At least 3 years sound expertise in landscape restoration and Nature Based Solutions for water resources management, climate change adaptation and professional experience in environmental conservation, ecosystem management, or related fields.
- Understand catchment hydrology and quantification of hydrological parameters.
- Expertise and experience in engaging local stakeholders in locally led management activities and multi-use areas, ideally at a large-landscape level.
- Strong experience in facilitation skills and working with multi-stakeholders, particularly the government departments
- Proven experience in supporting communication activities, including developing communication materials, and outreach etc.
- Experience working with international teams and multi-disciplinary groups.
- Willingness to frequently travel within the country, sometimes on a short notice.
