Birdview Microinsurance Limited seeks a meticulous, results-driven Finance & Administration Manager to support the CEO in overseeing the company’s financial health, administrative operations, and regulatory compliance. This role is central to safeguarding company assets, driving operational efficiency, and delivering accurate financial insights that inform strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities or duties
- Oversee the company’s accounting and financial management functions, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness across all reporting.
- Support the CEO in developing and managing annual budgets, monitoring expenditure discipline, and driving cost efficiency.
- Conduct proactive financial analysis and contribute to the development of performance metrics aligned with the company’s strategic direction.
- Assist in capital management and allocation decisions, including regular review of investment performance and compliance with the approved investment mix.
- Design, implement, and continuously strengthen internal financial controls across the finance value chain in collaboration with the internal audit team.
- Ensure all accounting records, reconciliations, and transaction processing systems meet auditor, regulatory, and reporting standards.
- Keep abreast of tax legislation changes, ensure timely remittance of all applicable taxes, and oversee accurate filing of statutory and regulatory returns.
- Prepare and review periodic and ad hoc management reports and financial statements, working with operations teams to track key performance metrics.
- Liaise with external auditors to facilitate timely statutory audit closure and ensure prompt implementation of audit recommendations.
- Guide operating departments on proper accounting transaction processing and collaborate with procurement on value chain management.
- Build team capacity through coaching, mentorship, and structured performance development.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or related degree from a recognised university
- CPA (K) or ACCA professional qualification
- Active membership of ICPAK or an equivalent recognised accounting body
- Professional qualification is required.
Experience needed
- Minimum 5+ years experience
- Background in accounting, audit, and/or actuarial practice
- Experience in the insurance industry is a requirement.
