Responsibilities or duties

  • Post daily accounting entries including journals, accruals, and adjustments under supervision by the Senior Accountant.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all accounting records
  • Process supplier invoices, ensuring accurate three‑way matching before posting into the ERP system.
  • Assist in performing payment runs under supervision by the Senior Accountant
  • Reconcile supplier and customer accounts and assist in resolving discrepancies
  • Perform bank reconciliations as assigned by the Senior Accountant
  • Record cash, bank, and petty cash transactions
  • Assist in preparing monthly reporting packs and cash flow forecast/ information
  • Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities and reporting
  • Assist in preparing audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Support filing of tax returns and compliance (e.g. PAYE, VAT, SHA/SHIF, NSSF and any other relevant levies)
  • Assist in preparation of cost reports to facilitate accurate product costing
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards
  • Support external and internal audit processes
  • Maintain well‑organised physical and electronic financial records
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and stock count processes
  • Perform other finance‑related tasks as assigned by the Senior Accountant
  • Support the integration agenda being implemented by the company

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Degree in Financial/Management Accounting or B.com Accounting/ Costing degree or equivalent qualification
  • Partially/fully qualified in CPA/ACCA
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge or exposure to SAP Business One (SAP B1) or any other ERP system is a strong advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and a proactive attitude.
  • High degree of accuracy & strong numeric skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload, resources and manage time
  • Strong adherence and awareness of internal controls
  • Results oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems and put forward recommendations
  • Good communication skills
  • Good team working skills
  • Customer focused
  • Drive and initiative

Experience needed

  • 0-2 years’ relevant experience as an Accountant
