Job Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and overseeing the organization's financial management functions. The role ensures sound financial planning, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and internal controls while supporting the achievement of the organization's mission and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Manage cash flow and ensure the organization's financial sustainability.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, donor, and regulatory financial requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
  • Strengthen and maintain effective internal control systems.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate finance department staff.
  • Support procurement and asset management processes from a financial perspective.
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic advice to management.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory returns and tax obligations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Membership in a recognized professional accounting body is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Experience

  • Progressive experience in finance and accounting, with experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in a non-profit, training institution, or development organization is an added advantage.
