This is a Grade 9 position within the Finance and Accounts department.
Responsibilities or duties
- Preparing and reviewing periodic expenditures return
- Maintaining the general ledger
- Assisting in tax accounting and remitting statutory deductions
- Keeping safe custody of payments and journal vouchers
- Checking and processing contract payments and other disbursements
- Issuing demand notes and following delinquent accounts
- Maintaining assets registers
- Preparing payment vouchers
- Preparing bank reconciliation statements
- Ascertaining accuracy of HELB returns and updating student’s details.
- Reconciling students’ account.
- Preparing customer invoices for the services rendered.
- Undertaking regular banking.
- Participating in quality management and performance contracting processes.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Requirements for Appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution;
- Certified Public Accountant Part II or equivalent qualification from accredited examination body;
- Registered with Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK); proficiency in computer applications;
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Experience needed
- Cumulative service period of three (3) years’ relevant work experience, at the grade of Finance and Accounts Officer II or in a comparable position;
Any other provided details (e.g., benefits, work environment, team info, or additional notes)
Shortlisted candidates will be required to present originals of the following documents during the interviews:
- National Identity Card;
- Academic and Professional Certificates and transcripts;
- Any other supporting documents and testimonials; and Clearances from the following bodies:
- Kenya Revenue Authority;
- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
- Higher Education Loans Board;
- Any of the Registered Credit Reference Bureaus;
- Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance Certificate);
- Letter of recognition of qualifications frrom the Commission for University Education (CUE) for any degree obtained from foreign universities; and (f) Recommendations from relevant professional bodies (where applicable).
