Job Overview

The Finance Manager will work with a variety of clients, including charter and independent schools and non-profit organizations. The role serves as the Accounting Manager and actively manages all aspects of finances for multiple clients. In this consulting role, the Finance Manager regularly exercises independent judgment on client financial matters. Although the scope of work varies for each client, the Finance Manager will be responsible for the team’s day-to-day Accounting, Finance, Team Management, and Client Consulting activities.

Job Tasks

Accounting

Payroll

• Review key payrolls for accuracy.
• Set up systems to process payroll for team and client.
• Review payroll reconciliation.

Monthly Close

• Review, analyze, and monitor reconciled general ledger accounts.
• Review and finalize bank reconciliations.
• Organize and manage client month-end and quarterly closes.

Audit

• Manage auditor requests and communications.
• Manage and execute the full scope of audits for multiple clients.
• Review, consolidate, and prepare schedules for annual audits.
• Assign, organize, and manage the team’s audit deliverables.

Finance

Analysis and Reporting

• Calculate and analyze financial forecasts, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial data.
• Review and evaluate financial reports.
• Summarize and report on the current financial status.
• Draft annual budgets and develop/monitor grant spending plans.

Team Management

• Manage the work of the accounting team responsible for day-to-day accounting, payroll, financial analysis, reporting, and audits.
• Support the client team by coordinating work assignments and answering questions.
• Conduct on-the-job training for team members.
• Provide performance feedback for assigned client resources.
• Escalate changes in organizational leadership, scope of work, and financial trends to the Client Lead.

Client Consulting

• Manage multiple clients virtually.
• Engage and consult with client leadership on financial management.
• Monitor and track financial goals for trends.
• Provide training to client staff.
• Participate and present at Board meetings.
• Serve as the internal and external point of escalation and resolution for day-to-day client service and delivery matters.
• Execute multiple client deliverables and priorities.
