About the Role
Optimum Partnerships Africa is looking for a qualified and experienced Fire Technician to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and servicing of fire safety and firefighting systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test and maintain fire-fighting equipment and systems.
- Work with fire alarm and fire detection systems.
- Install, inspect and maintain fire extinguishers.
- Work with fire suppression systems.
- Install, inspect and maintain sprinkler systems.
- Work with fire pumps and hydrant systems.
- Install, inspect and maintain emergency lighting and other fire safety equipment.
- Carry out routine inspections and identify faults or potential safety risks.
- Conduct testing and troubleshooting of fire safety systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Ensure all installations and maintenance work comply with applicable safety standards and requirements.
- Prepare relevant technical reports and documentation.
- Work effectively with clients, colleagues and other technical teams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Fire Safety or Fire Engineering.
- A qualification in Electrical and Electronic Engineering will be an added advantage.
- 2–3 years of experience working as a Fire Technician.
- Practical experience in the installation, inspection, testing and maintenance of firefighting equipment.
- Knowledge and practical experience with:
- Fire alarm systems
- Fire detection systems
- Fire extinguishers
- Fire suppression systems
- Sprinkler systems
- Fire pumps
- Hydrant systems
- Emergency lighting
- Fire safety equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with AutoCAD or other design software is an added advantage.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
