JOB DESCRIPTION – FLEET manager

Role Purpose

Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Company’s fleet operations to ensure efficient vehicle utilization, compliance with transport regulations, cost optimization, and safe transportation across all business units.

  • Driver Supervision & Coordination

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations Management

  • Oversee the daily management and deployment of the Group’s fleet across business units.
  • Develop and implement fleet management policies and operational procedures.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of vehicles to support operational efficiency.

Vehicle Maintenance & Asset Management

  • Ensure timely servicing, repairs, and preventive maintenance of all fleet vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle service history, insurance, and licensing.
  • Oversee vehicle acquisition, allocation, and disposal processes.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with regulations issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and other transport regulations.
  • Monitor driver compliance with road safety standards and internal policies.
  • Investigate accidents and recommend corrective measures.

Cost Control & Fuel Management

  • Monitor fuel consumption and maintenance costs.
  • Implement cost-saving measures to improve fleet efficiency.
  • Prepare periodic reports on fleet operational costs.

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Manage relationships with vehicle service providers, fuel suppliers, and insurance providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements with fleet vendors.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Implement fleet tracking systems to monitor vehicle movement and utilization.
  • Prepare fleet performance reports for management.

Driver Supervision

  • Supervise drivers and transport personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and transport safety standards.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (mandatory).
  • Professional certification from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in fleet or transport management.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong fleet operations and transport management knowledge.
  • Good understanding of transport regulations and compliance.
  • Cost control and budgeting skills.
  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
  • Analytical and reporting ability.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
