The Mombasa Water Supply and Sanitation (MWASCO) is a state corporation established under the Water Act, 2016, and operates under the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation. Responsibilities or duties
The General Manager - Engineering and Strategy will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of all water supply and sanitation infrastructure.
- Developing and implementing strategic plans to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of MWASCO.
- Managing the engineering department, including staff, budgets, and resources.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and policies.
- Identifying and pursuing opportunities for innovation and technological advancement.
- Collaborating with stakeholders, including government agencies, other utilities, and the community.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
- Professional registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Kenya.
- Proven experience in water supply and sanitation engineering, with a strong understanding of strategic planning and management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and large teams.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in the water sector.
Experience needed
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in engineering and management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the water and sanitation sector.
