World Vision is an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation working in almost 100 countries world-wide to create lasting change in the lives of children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.
Responsibilities or duties
As part of the WV EAR family, the position holder promotes World Vision's Christian values through its work in teams and with people from various backgrounds. In addition, this role provides administrative support to Regional Faith and Development Senior Technical Advisor and the SPQ Director.
For assigned Regional post, the Faith and Development intern be responsible for providing both spiritual formation and nourishment for both staff and organization by reinforcing WV Christian foundation, identity and witness and hence influencing both WV programming. In addition, the position also contributes to the quality of our programs through supporting the integration of the various faith and development approaches in processes and capacity enhancement of our staff and partners. The position is a key driver to the realization of WVI’s Faith and Development strategic intent in East Africa region.
This internship is a 12 months’ talent incubation programme aiming to give young Christian graduates real work experience, personal, spiritual and professional development through on- job mentorship and coaching.
Coordinate Staff Spiritual Formation Activities
- Help develop and coordinate the chapel program activities
- Facilitate the equipping of small group leaders for effective staff formation sessions through small groups.
- Facilitate availability of relevant Spiritual formation materials being careful to include areas of peace, protection, and opportunity that will influence Faith and Development
- Brainstorm, plan, and roll out relevant topics and areas of focus on spiritual focus that should be engaged to staff
- Review and analyze the relevance and value add of the materials provided to staff and how they have been utilized
- Attend Chapel Committee meetings
- Help in planning Day of Prayer for East Africa Office
- Be the point person on prayer updates of the Region
Program Integration
- Help in organizing staff training for Faith and Development models such as Empowered World View.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Administrative support to Regional Faith and Development Senior Technical Advisor and SPDQ Director.
- Coordinate and provide logistical support for F&D Regional Forums and meetings
- Provide support for travel bookings and logistics
- Coordinate and consolidate team inputs for monthly and quarterly reports
Thought Leadership & Publications in area of expertise
- Populate, provide and develop bible study guides to be used in small groups throughout the FY
Others
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Faith and Development Advisor and SPDQ Director.
- Attend and participate in devotional meetings.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Required Professional Experience
- Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities. Spiritual maturity; clear articulation of personal faith in Christ about how their faith informs their life and work. Possesses biblical acuity
- Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills
- Experience in developing devotional materials.
- Must adhere to set security standards
- Excellent English language skills; written and verbal.
- Demonstrated writing skills and working with excel spreadsheets.
- Innovative and the ability to think outside of the box.
- Team player; the ability to work as part of a diverse team to achieve the overall goal
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
- Bachelor Degree, preferably in Bible and Theology, Christian Education or Christian Ministry
- Graduated in the 2 years
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- Knowledge of denominational aspects and other faith core beliefs.
Experience needed
This internship is a 12 months’ talent incubation programme.
