IDENTIFICATION
Job title: Graphic Design Intern
Reporting to: Marketing Manager
Function: Marketing Unit
Physical Location: Inside Wilson Airport, Nairobi

2. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
• This role sits within the Marketing unit and is responsible for developing high quality, creative and effective designs for tactical marketing and communications campaigns.
• The successful applicant will be responsible for promoting, enhancing and protecting brand integrity for corporate communication and marketing collateral targeted for both internal and external audiences, by applying creativity within the expansive brand expression.

3. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• To develop high quality and creative designs for tactical internal and external communication and
• marketing campaigns collateral
• To customize campaign toolkits in accordance to existing brand guidelines to suit the intended purpose of the communication
• Create and design various materials for print and digital collateral
• Develop illustrations, campaign creatives and designs using software to ensure that final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand
• To promote, enhance and protect brand integrity by strictly following guidelines for all communication and marketing collateral for both internal and external audiences.
• Ensuring that design work is aligned with other methods of communication.
• To study, determine requirements and execute design briefs from communication and marketing teams
• Identify, source and manage appropriate images and other model rights as well as other graphic design tools that enhance the visual appeal of our communications
• Understand the commercial value of graphic design

4. QUALIFICATION
• A bachelor’s degree or diploma in graphic design, Fine/Creative Arts or related fields
• Certification in graphic design software
• Technical training in computerized design, studio art, commercial graphics production, printing techniques and website design is an added advantage
• Original portfolio—a collection of completed designs that demonstrates an artist’s/designer’s styles and abilities

4.1 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Proven record and mastery of design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, All Adobe, Photoshop design with top notch experience
• Ability to work within stipulated brand guidelines without compromising
• Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of standard software packages, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud etc
• A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics
• A keen eye for details and visual composition
• Understanding of communication, marketing, production, corporate identity, advertisements and multimedia design.
• Ability to give and receive constructive criticism
• Ability to work methodically and meet strict deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong organizational skills

5. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Based at AMREF Flying Doctors Hangar, Wilson Airport, AMREF Flying Doctors has a 24-hour work environment.
