Background
We are a Christian school in the education sector looking to recruit Head of Department who will be responsible for overseeing the entire catering department, its day-to-day operation, with a view of achieving optimal departmental resource utilization, hygiene, safety, and general operation.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the setting up of workstations with all the needed or required ingredients as well as preparing cooking equipment.
- Supervise the preparation of ingredients to be used in cooking, chopping, peeling, sorting, etc.
- Ensure smooth cooking and serving of meals for learners, staff, and during events.
- Ensure appropriate usage of the cooking items and ingredients quantities and qualities are right.
- Ensure adherence to the set menus for the different diets in the school.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of kitchen staff and act as a positive role model.
- Ensure all department members understand core departmental responsibilities and objectives within the school framework.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree/ Diploma in Food Production and Service/ Food and Beverage Production.
- Minimum of three (3) years' relevant supervisory experience in a similar role;
- HACCP Certification (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points).
- Valid certificate of good conduct.
- Medical Certificate.
- Proficiency in Computer Applications.

- Computer literacy.
- First aid skills.
- Childcare skills.
- Organization skills.
