Role Overview

The HR Manager (Head Role) will report to the Director and will be responsible for all aspects of HR—strategic and operational—across plants and corporate functions. The role carries full ownership of the people agenda and will lead an HR team of 5, with a strong emphasis on HR business partnering and using data/metrics to support key business decisions and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & HR Operations

  • Lead and manage the HR function for 500+ employees across design, manufacturing, logistics and corporate/support functions, with a team of 5 HR staff.
  • Set up, refine and enforce HR policies, processes and systems across locations.
  • Ensure consistent HR service delivery to both plant and corporate employees.

HR Business Partnering & Analytics

  • Act as a strategic HR business partner to the Director and senior management team.
  • Analyse HR and business KPIs (manpower cost, productivity, overtime, attrition, absenteeism, hiring funnel, training ROI, etc.) and present clear insights to management.
  • Prepare HR dashboards and utilise data to recommend actions on organisation design, headcount, performance, rewards and engagement.
  • Support key business and growth decisions (new projects, capacity expansion, restructuring, incentives) with people related analytics and inputs.

Talent Management & Development

  • Drive workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding and employer branding to attract and retain high quality talent.
  • Implement robust performance management processes, including goalsetting, reviews and development plans.
  • Design and deliver learning & development and leadership programmes for functional and people managers.
  • Identify high potential employees and build succession pipelines for critical positions.

Compensation, Compliance & Employee Relations

  • Oversee compensation & benefits, HR policies, grading and annual salary/bonus review processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with Kenyan labour legislation and internal HR policies for both plant and office employees.
  • Manage employee relations, internal communication, grievance and disciplinary procedures in a fair and transparent manner.
  • Lead culture building and engagement initiatives to drive productivity, collaboration and retention.

Profile & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of HR experience, preferably covering both manufacturing and corporate functions.
  • Proven experience as Head HR / HR Manager reporting to promoters/Directors and part of senior management.
  • Strong understanding of Kenyan labour laws and HR best practices.
  • High comfort with numbers and HR analytics; able to link people metrics with business performance and support management decisions.
  • Hands on, process driven, and comfortable operating across plants and corporate offices.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and people leadership skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree with HR specialisation; a Master’s in HR / MBA is a plus.
