Main tasks and responsibilities

Assignments and tasks

In collaboration with Regional HRM and Country Representative:

  • One will responsible in preparation of contracts, letter of offer and related documentation for national staff.
  • Overall responsible for preparing monthly payments for each employee according to the local labor regulations.
  • Provide correct data for payment of healthcare insurance, NSSF, NHIF, NITA and PAYE for national staff under AVSI contract.
  • Overall responsible for registering annual leave, sick leave, compassionate leave, etc. in the personnel files.
  • Checking and monitoring attendance records
  • Responsible for monitoring and follow-up of Human Resource related issues in AVSI Field Offices and keeping all the original personnel files both for employees in Nairobi and Field Offices.
  • Focal point for national staff matters in Kenya including monthly update of project allocations and responsible for the proper filing and follow-up of the staff time sheets and check them for conformity with instructions.
  • Follow up all the documents of AVSI expatriate staff (Leave, work permit, and registration of Medical Officers and taxation)
  • Focal point for legal labor issues related to AVSI employee.
  • Participate in staff recruitment process.
  • Identify and propose suitable and relevant short-term training courses for national staff.
  • Assist in the Performance Evaluation Appraisal and Report.
  • Participate in HR coordination meetings, weekly (every Monday) and once a month at a general level;
  • Participate in the organization of events related to departments and beyond;
  • Collaborate in the proper functioning of the AVSI structure in the country or in the specific work area;
  • Participate in the mid-term and final (annual) evaluation process provided by AVSI as evaluated;
  • Perform other necessary tasks related to the role and requested by the Supervisor.

Essential Requirements

  • A bachelors degree in Human resource management or Strategic planning. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft dynamics 365 will be an added advantage
  • 5 years’ experience as a Human resource Officer in a similar setting.
  • Wide knowledge of the governing Acts and regulatory bodies.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing expatriate operations in Kenya.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
