Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field

1-4 years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment

Strong knowledge of Kenyan HSE legislation, including OSHA 2007, WIBA, and EMCA requirements

Demonstrated experience in HSE audits and inspections, risk assessment, hazard identification, and control measures

Knowledge of incident investigation, reporting procedures, and corrective action implementation

Training in fire safety, emergency preparedness, risk assessment, or environmental management is an added advantage

Strong communication, employee training, documentation, and report-writing skills

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with statutory HSE requirements, conduct inspections, risk assessments, and audits, and promote safe work practices across the facility.

Incident Management & Emergency Preparedness: Investigate incidents and near-misses, implement corrective actions, and coordinate emergency response programs, fire drills, and evacuation exercises.

Training & Employee Awareness: Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs to strengthen safety culture and employee engagement.

Environmental Management: Support environmental compliance initiatives, waste management programs, sustainability efforts, and liaison with relevant regulatory authorities.
