The Karen Hospital is a 102-bed multispecialty Hospital located aimed at providing specialized evidence- based healthcare services and referral facilities for the Africa region. To support the delivery of world class, patient-centric care, we are recruiting a highly motivated, visionary and result oriented Head Biomedical Engineer who will oversee and coordinate daily operations related to the safety testing, repair, and maintenance of the Hospital's biomedical equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Effectively plan and lead all preventive and diagnostic maintenance of Biomedical equipment and ensure accuracy of all maintenance logs;
- Supervise the installation and commissioning of new equipment through functionality testing, adjusting and calibrating for standards and compliance;
- Maintain and review inspection checklists and lead periodic Bio-med inspections across all sites while effectively utilizing equipment warranty details;
- Ensure strict compliance with product quality assurance, engineering specifications, procedural standards, health and safety protocols and proper equipment handling in all Biomed operations; Ensure timely project delivery and real-time communication with user departments on project status; Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of all equipment and make recommendations to management for the Improvement of ROI;
- Develop and maintain detailed inventory of medical equipment for efficient resource allocation while analyzing, and summarize Bio-med data and report on relevant trends for proper decision making; Develop quarterly training calendars for clinicians on the proper use and protection of all Biomed equipment;
- Liaise closely with the procurement team in the sourcing of accessories; and
- Prepare and submit monthly down-time reports, guide on end-of-life requirements and lead the disposal processes of Bio-med equipment.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from recognized institution
- At least 7 years' relevant experience, 2 of which should be at supervisory level.
- Recognized by the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya.
DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Proven Project Management experience.
- Strong grasp of Hospital utility systems and Quality Management Systems. Conversance with hospital management systems.
