Job Title: Head of Cybersecurity (Service Delivery & Team Leadership)
Company: Our Client (Leading Cybersecurity Firm, Nairobi)
Location: Nairobi, Kenya (On-site)
Salary: 200,000 KES gross per month + performance-based incentives
Reports To: CEO
About the Role
Our client specializes exclusively in cybersecurity services for enterprise clients across Kenya. They are seeking a Head of Cybersecurity who will lead both service delivery to external clients and the internal technical team.
The ideal candidate comes from an MSSP (Managed Security Service Provider), cybersecurity reseller, or similar environment where they have been responsible for delivering security solutions (EDR, SOC, threat hunting) to multiple external clients. This is a client-facing leadership role, not an internal IT management position.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery to External Clients
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of cybersecurity services to enterprise clients (banks, telcos, large retailers)
- Ensure client SLAs are met for incident response, uptime, and threat detection
- Act as the senior technical trusted advisor for key accounts, leading QBRs and technical reviews
- Own the technical onboarding of new clients and ensure smooth transition from pre-sales to delivery
- Drive continuous improvement in service delivery KPIs
Internal Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage the internal technical team (engineers, analysts, support staff)
- Assign resources, monitor performance, and ensure quality assurance across all client engagements
- Define and enforce technical standards, deployment methodologies, and escalation procedures
- Foster a culture of technical excellence and client-first service
Strategic & Commercial Contribution
- Support the commercial team with technical input for renewals, proposals, and contract expansions
- Identify opportunities to deepen client engagements and expand managed service adoption
- Evaluate new security vendor platforms and recommend service line enhancements
- Work closely with the CEO on technology roadmap and resource planning
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field
- Minimum 8 years in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing service delivery to external clients
- Hands-on experience with: SIEM/SOC operations, EDR/XDR platforms, threat hunting, and incident response
- Proven experience in an MSSP, cybersecurity reseller, or client-facing security services environment
- Strong business acumen – ability to translate technical security into commercial value for clients
- Excellent communication skills with confidence engaging CISO and executive-level stakeholders
Technical Competencies (Must have)
- Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR/XDR) platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender)
- SIEM and SOC tooling (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm, or similar)
- Threat intelligence and exposure management
- Familiarity with CBK Cybersecurity Guidelines, ISO 27001, NIST CSF
Highly Desirable
- Professional certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CrowdStrike CCFA/CCFR, Microsoft Security, or equivalent
- Experience with public sector tenders and government procurement in Kenya
- Knowledge of the East African enterprise market (banking, telco, retail, insurance)
