Development Bank of Kenya Ltd. is a banking company based out of Loita Street, Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya.
Responsibilities or duties
To manage the overall credit function of the bank. This entails the end-to-end credit operations and service delivery processes by establishing internal controls and processes for credit assessment, restructuring, monitoring and recovery.
- Developing, reviewing and implementing policies, programmes and strategies for lending.
- Compliance with the Lending policy of the Bank, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Developing and reviewing standard operating procedures.
- Coordinating preparation of credit proposals for consideration and approval.
- Coordinating management of loans and advances portfolio.
- Monitoring and evaluating the Bank’s loans and advances portfolio performance and revenue generation.
- Coordinating processing of information and filing of periodic returns to the Central Bank of Kenya.
- Managing the Bank’s equity investments.
- Coordinating the preparation of management and statutory reports.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Registration with a recognized professional body (KIB, ICPAK, FMA, CRM, Diploma in Credit, or equivalent).
- Leadership training from recognized institutions.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Knowledge of banking processes.
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Experience needed
- At least twelve (12) years’ relevant experience, three (3) at Manager level or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience in collateral-based lending and portfolio monitoring.
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and portfolio management.
- Ability to manage delinquent accounts and minimize NPLs.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk governance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated results in performance.
