Job Purpose: The Head of Hospital Services is responsible for overseeing the efficient management of the hospital’s support services, including biomedical engineering, facilities management, and Supply Chain. This role will ensure that hospital services run smoothly, safely, and effectively, supporting clinical and administrative functions in alignment with hospital goals. The Head of Hospital Services will work closely with senior leadership to develop, implement, and optimize processes, ensuring high standards of service, cost efficiency, and compliance with regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Strategy
• Lead and manage hospital services in support services, biomedical engineering,
facilities management, and supply chain departments.
• Develop and implement strategic plans in alignment with hospital goals to enhance
the effectiveness and efficiency of these departments.
• Provide leadership and direction to department heads, ensuring staff development,
motivation, and engagement.

2. Biomedical Engineering
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of medical equipment in
accordance with regulatory standards.
• Ensure that biomedical engineering staff are adequately trained, and that
equipment is regularly assessed for performance, safety, and compliance.
• Develop and manage the equipment lifecycle management process, including
budgeting and procurement of new equipment.

3. Facilities Management
• Ensure the hospital’s physical infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards,
providing a safe, clean, and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Oversee building operations including utilities, housekeeping, security, and general
maintenance.
• Implement strategies to improve the hospital’s energy efficiency, environmental
sustainability, and health and safety standards.

4. Supply Chain
• Oversee all aspects of the supply chain and procurement function, including
sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, and logistics.
• Ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven supply chain solutions to support
hospital services.
• Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiate
contracts and ensure compliance with service agreements.

5. Support Services
• Oversee the Support Services functions of Security, Catering and Housekeeping to
ensure and support seamless service delivery, excellent patient outcomes and
business growth.

6. Financial Oversight
• Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively, ensuring cost containment
and resource optimization without compromising quality.
• Analyze costs and propose initiatives for reducing expenses while improving service
delivery.
• Provide regular reports on services performance, budget status, and project
outcomes to senior management.
• Plan for and manage current space, functional requirements and
renovation/construction projects

ii. Qualifications
1. Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related
field
2. Job Experience
• At least 10 years of experience of which 5 should be at a senior level preferably in
hospital services or healthcare management, with a focus on support services,
biomedical engineering, facilities, and supply chain management.
• Experience working in hospitals with national and international accreditations is an
added advantage.

iii. Key Competencies – Skills/ Knowledge/ Aptitude
• Excellent project management skills.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare services, regulatory requirements, and industry’s
best practices.
• Excellent financial acumen and experience managing operational budgets.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively
with senior leadership, staff, and external partners.
• Proven ability to manage multiple departments and competing priorities
simultaneously.
• Able to work under minimum supervision
• Self-motivated and result orientated
