Responsibilities
The Head of Sales & Marketing is responsible for driving revenue growth and brand visibility for UMS Kenya by leading all sales and marketing functions. The role holder will develop and implement effective strategies to grow market share, build strong customer relationships, and position UMS Kenya as the preferred provider of prepaid utility metering solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Sales Management
- Lead the development and execution of sales strategies to achieve company revenue targets.
- Identify, develop, and convert sales leads into business opportunities.
- Follow up on inquiries generated through customer service and marketing channels.
- Manage walk-in customers and ensure high-quality customer engagement.
- Drive direct sales of water, electricity, and gas meters and ensure timely payment processing in coordination with finance.
- Undertake field visits to acquire new customers and expand market reach.
- Recruit, manage, and support sales agents and resellers.
- Oversee agent stock allocation, utilization, and reconciliation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and strategic clients.
- Ensure optimal utilization of departmental resources (financial, human, and material).
- Prepare and submit accurate sales reports including: Daily and monthly sales performance, Data analysis and forecasts, Market feedback, Operational challenges and opportunities,and Risk assessment and mitigation plans
Marketing Management
- Develop and implement periodic marketing strategies aligned to company objectives.
- Oversee execution of branding initiatives to strengthen UMS Kenya’s market position.
- Manage all digital platforms including social media channels and the company website.
- Plan and coordinate participation in exhibitions, expos, trade fairs, and industry events.
- Design and execute promotional campaigns and special offers to drive sales.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and new opportunities.
- Carry out competitor analysis and recommend strategic responses.
- Manage marketing budgets and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of all marketing activities and campaigns.
- Generate periodic marketing reports covering performance, insights, and recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in sales and marketing management, preferably in the utility, technology, or engineering sector.
- Proven track record in meeting sales targets and driving business growth.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and reporting capabilities.
- Good understanding of digital marketing, branding, and customer relationship management.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and business operations.
- Experience in distributor/agent network management will be an added advantage.
