Responsibilities or duties
The Head of Risk and Compliance will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the bank's risk management framework and ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive risk management strategies and policies.
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks across the organization.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Establishing and maintaining robust internal controls.
- Leading and managing the risk and compliance team.
- Reporting on risk and compliance matters to senior management and the board of directors.
- Conducting regular risk assessments and compliance audits.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CRISC, CISA) is an added advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of risk management principles and regulatory frameworks in the financial sector.
- Strong understanding of microfinance operations and the Kenyan financial landscape.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
Experience needed
A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in risk management and compliance within the financial services industry, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role. Experience in microfinance is highly desirable.
