Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Irrigation & Water Resources Engineer to support the planning, design, development, and management of irrigation projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, practical field experience, and a solid understanding of donor-funded irrigation programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and implementation of irrigation systems and water management projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical evaluations for irrigation development.
- Prepare and review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Oversee construction, installation, and commissioning of irrigation infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with national engineering standards and donor project requirements.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and technical reports for stakeholders and donors.
- Provide technical support to project teams, farmers, and community groups.
- Monitor and evaluate irrigation project performance and recommend improvements.
- Ensure proper water resource utilization, conservation, and sustainability measures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Water Resources Management, Irrigation Engineering, or Agricultural Water Management from a recognized university.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation & Development Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or Agronomy from a recognized university.
- Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or Kenya Institute of Agricultural Engineers (KIAE).
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in irrigation planning, design, development, or management.
- Proven experience working on donor-funded irrigation programs.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of modern irrigation systems and water resource management.
- Proficiency in engineering design software and GIS tools.
- Excellent project management and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results within set timelines.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
