Background

Our client is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that provides education to refugees and vulnerable communities, with offices in Kenya and Somalia.

The organization is seeking to recruit a highly talented and dynamic professional to fill the following position based at the Head Office, Nairobi, Kenya, with frequent travel to the refugee-hosting areas.

HUMAN RESOURCE AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER

Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent will exemplify professionalism and integrity in Kenya and Somalia while safeguarding the organization’s institutional confidentiality, driving a performance-focused and innovative HR agenda. They will ensure compliance with all HR and labor regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Leading HR and Administration, ensuring strong policies, effective workforce planning, and organizational development, while advising senior leadership on strategic direction.
  • Protecting the organization’s interests by ensuring decisions are aligned with the legal and organizational framework.
  • Managing recruitment and onboarding, ensuring timely, compliant hiring of qualified, values-aligned staff.
  • Overseeing the implementation of performance management systems across Kenya and Somalia while identifying high-potential staff to support succession planning.
  • Coordinating staff training and capacity building programs while promoting a positive work environment.
  • Overseeing general administrative functions, including office management, logistics, travel, security coordination, and asset management.
  • Managing procurement by following established guidelines, ensuring efficient, transparent, and accountable operations across Kenya and Somalia.
  • Overseeing the HRIS and generating timely HR reports for management and donors.
  • Ensuring payroll inputs are accurate, timely, and fully compliant with organizational policies.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 7–10 years of progressive HR and Administration experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role in the NGO or development sector.
  • Must be an active member of the Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM).
  • Strong people management skills and a great understanding of Kenyan labor laws.
  • Upholds privacy and confidentiality in all HR matters and organizational records.
  • Strong decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.

Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
