Background
The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu (AKHK) is an Institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital is part of a network of health facilities, which includes Hospitals and Outreach Health Facilities across East Africa. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is in an exciting growth phase and has attained acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for laboratory services, Safe Care level 5 accreditation and is at advanced stage of attaining Joint Commission International Accreditation. AKHK has Outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa - Bay, Migori, Bomet, Eldoret, Kimilili, Nyamira, Kabarnet and an upcoming Medical Centre in Lodwar.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant will provide support in various human resource functions, which include recruitment, data management, induction and onboarding, locum payroll processing and staff background checks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support effective implementation of human resource policies, plans and procedures.
- Contribute to HR projects such as organizing an induction program for joiners
- Enter data into the HR system so that accurate records are maintained,
- Prepare locum contracts and liaise with payroll for payments
- Maintain and develop the personnel record filing system
- Manage the leaver administration process
- Maintain, supervise and update collection of materials for the human resource department
- Carry out any other reasonable ad hoc duties in order to support the HR department
- Maintain an efficient and effective filing system for HR documents, including the filing of staff files and data management.
- Support locum payroll administration.
- Maintain contract expiry dates and update the supervisor one month in advance.
- Ensure that staff have relevant licenses and that all other documentation relating to their profession are valid and updated to ensure compliance with required standards and regulatory needs.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Diploma in Human Resource Management from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
- Membership of Institute of Human Resources Management.
- Minimum of three (1) years’ experience as a HR Assistant, preferably in comparable institution
