Description
KMET is an indigenous NGO registered in Kenya and based in Kisumu with a presence in 34 Counties since 1995. KMET envisions communities with accessible quality, sustainable RH, and education information and services that promote human rights. The mission is to promote sustainable development among underserved communities through innovative health and education programs. KMET has made deliberate efforts to come up with health innovations targeting underserved communities in both the private and public health sectors within the laid policy frameworks.

Job Summary
We are, therefore, looking for an individual/independent person that will be required for 5 days in a Quarter. Will be Responsible for managing and undertaking continuous independent audit engagements and plans and internal control reviews. This is to provide assurance that the operations of KMET are carried out in line with the documented policies and procedures, comply with legal and statutory requirements, and stakeholders’ interests are secure and well safeguarded.

Responsibilities
1. Compliance: Plan, direct, and monitor the auditing of KMET’s operations and systems to ensure compliance with KMET policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
2. Audit Management: Prepare and implement audit plans to ensure all risks in the auditable areas are fully addressed and periodic audits are completed in readiness for external annual audit.
3. Risk Management: Review the effectiveness of the risk management processes and adequacy of the internal controls to enhance the safeguarding of KMET assets
4. Develop appropriate risk assessment matrices to be used as a guide in identifying inherent risks and internal/management control processes in all areas
5. Develop appropriate audit tests to address the identified risks
6. Review and report on the implementation of management action plans to address internal control deficiencies and business risks to ensure any issues identified are addressed appropriately in a timely manner.
7. Risk Evaluation: Review reports on key control weaknesses, detected non-compliance with KMET’s policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements and procedures, and discuss with relevant departmental heads for action.
8. Internal Controls: Make recommendations and contribute to the development of solutions to improve the internal control and operational environment based on the audit findings within the context of KMET’s policies and taking account of the overall operating environment and trends.
9. Train staff/partners on FRAUD awareness and prevention

Qualifications
• Must be an individual with bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or any other related field from a recognized institution.
• Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
• Membership to a professional body such as ICPAK or IIA
• At least 5 years’ experience in risk and compliance management with at least 2 years’ experience at a supervisory level.
• A good understanding of Non-profit institutions’ environment and operations will be an added advantage.
• Proficient and knowledgeable in audit techniques, generally accepted accounting principles, and generally accepted auditing standards, including IIA
