The MCK MEDIA INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT PROGRAMME

Call for Applications May-July 2026 Cohort

The Media Council of Kenya (MCK), in partnership with recognised media houses, runs a media industrial attachment programme. The programme is designed to provide journalism and communication students with practical work experience before graduation and to prepare them for the job market.

Duration of the Industrial Attachment

The attachment lasts for three months: May-July 2026.

Eligibility

Students pursuing a degree or diploma in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, Digital Communication or Corporate Communication who meet the requirements below are eligible to apply.

Application Requirements

  • Final-year students who need a credit unit or grade to graduate from a recognised university or college.
  • A recommendation letter from the university or college, issued within the last two months, clearly stating the period for which the placement is required.
  • Academic transcripts for the current academic year.
  • Valid Student Identification Card.
  • Valid MCK Student Press Card 2026.
  • A mandatory sample of journalistic work (this may include published online content, school projects, etc.).

Placement

Successful applicants will be placed in recognised media and communication outlets across the country in the following areas of specialisation:

Print

Broadcast (Radio/Television)

Technical/Production

Digital Content Creation
