JOB DETAILS:

Responsibilities
1. Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background, the interns' assigned office as well as the internship period.
2. Under the direct supervision of the Associate Programme Manager, Capacity Development and Training Unit the intern will:
3. Design graphic materials such as icons, graphs, flyers, social media cards, brochures, presentations, and any other materials.
4. Support with planning, developing, implementing, and managing strategies for communication activities, including for social media accounts
5. Support with the planning, design, and development of e-learning courses to be hosted on UN-Habitat’s online learning platform UN-Habitat Learn, using content development tools such as Articulate Rise.
6. Support dissemination of content via social media, websites, and newsletters.
7. Assist with the management and regular update of the unit’s websites (Moodle and Drupal).
8. Support the analysis of outreach and communication effectiveness of the unit.
9. Support drafting of stories for external and internal audiences.
10. Assist in research and data collection to support the development and update of training materials, tools, and exercises.
11. Assist with communication and engagement with stakeholders, such as other units and branches, partners in academia/research, training institutions etc.
12. Assist in the preparation of draft concept notes, background documents, research proposals, presentations, and any other substantive materials.
13. Undertake any other assignments as necessary to support the implementation of the unit’s work programme.

Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.

Education
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

1. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
3. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent
4. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office).
5. Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
6. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Preferred areas of studies:

1. Digital learning, Instructional Design, Pedagogics, Communications, Design, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Languages, Education, International Relations, Development Studies, or related field of studies.

Work Experience
2. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
3. Experience in digital communications, digital learning/ e-learning or design tools is required.
4. Experience in the preparation of draft concept notes, background documents, research proposals, presentations, and any other substantive materials is desirable.
5. Experience in research and data collection is desirable.
