Background
The Norway Embassy in Nairobi is looking for two Interns for fall 2026. Would you like to gain a unique insight into the Foreign Service and learn more about the UN, Kenya and Somalia? The Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi is offering internship positions in the fall of 2026, starting on August 3. The purpose of the internship program is to spread knowledge about and interest in the work of the Foreign Service. As an intern, you will gain good insight into the many tasks and tasks at the embassy, and several aspects of Norway’s cooperation with Kenya, the UN (UNEP and UN-Habitat) and Somalia. Nairobi is one of the UN capitals, and several UN and multilateral organizations are headquartered here. Norway has extensive cooperation with Kenya, Somalia and the UN. The interns will be given special responsibility for strengthening our internal and external communication regarding this cooperation.
Responsibilities
The work tasks will include, among other things, political and economic reporting, information and communication work, aid management, multilateral work, business promotion, facilitation of visits/events, as well as administrative and consular tasks.
Qualifications
It is a prerequisite that applicants meet the requirements for student interns described on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and accept the terms and conditions mentioned there. In assessing candidates, emphasis will be placed on: begin a course of study at a university or college, relevant academic background and interest in foreign policy, Knowledge of Kenyan and/or Somali and regional politics, culture and society is an asset, personal initiative, analytical skills, good skills for both collaboration and independent work, experience with social media and online publishing, very good written presentation skills in Norwegian, very good English skills (written and oral).
Additional Details
The internship program is unpaid, but the embassy pays a stipend, currently 15,500 kroner per month. The stipend can be combined with support from the loan fund. Relevant candidates will be called for an interview.
