Background

Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) is a state corporation established under the Konza Technopolis Development Authority Act, 2012. Its mandate is to develop Konza Technopolis as a sustainable smart city, a hub for innovation and technology, and a major economic driver for Kenya.

Responsibilities

The IoT Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and managing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. This includes selecting appropriate hardware and software, developing embedded systems, and ensuring the security and scalability of IoT platforms.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in IoT development, including knowledge of various IoT protocols, cloud platforms, and data analytics is essential. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Java are required.

Experience

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in IoT engineering or a related field is preferred.

  • Designing, developing, implementing, and managing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.
  • Selecting appropriate hardware and software for IoT projects.
  • Developing embedded systems and firmware.
  • Ensuring the security and scalability of IoT platforms.
  • Integrating IoT devices with cloud platforms and applications.
  • Analyzing data collected from IoT devices to derive insights.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues with IoT systems.
  • IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT, CoAP, HTTP)
  • Cloud IoT platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT)
  • Embedded systems development
  • Programming languages (Python, C++, Java)
  • Data analytics and visualization
  • Network security principles
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
