The genesis of Gulf African Bank (GAB) can be traced back to 2005, when a group of motivated Kenyans envisioned establishing an Islamic bank as an alternative to conventional banking in the country. Senior Systems Development Analyst

Job Purpose

Define and assess business requirements and find technical solutions to meet business challenges. The incumbent must assess business requirements and determine the impact on infrastructure and application components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new IT software projects and initiatives to support and enhance our existing systems.
  • Analyze data contained in the corporate database and identify data integrity issues with existing and proposed systems and implement solutions.
  • Meet and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and requirements
  • Develop process solutions and ensure that all output from the users is consistent, accurate, timely and value-adding and constantly seek feedback from Business owners and key stakeholders as to relevance and value of process deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business processes through automating by developing relevant systems.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures, monitor systems health, gather system statistics, and troubleshoot reported errors
  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot core business applications, including application servers, endpoints, and databases
  • Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including operations, user guide, etc.
  • Assist in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for all new development projects.
  • Assist in managing an outsourced relationship for 3rd party application development and programming consultants.
  • Deliver assigned Projects and Business change requests within time and budget
  • Ensure applications operation by training end user and providing support.
  • Monitor the usefulness of the new systems and outputs on behalf of users.
  • Ensure applications systems periodical processes (EOD, EOM & EOY) are executed promptly
  • Ensure business continuity testing is performed regularly
  • Provides assistance and advice to business users in the effective use of applications and information technology.

Qualifications And Experience

  • A degree in computer science, information Technology or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ technical experience with systems programming, databases, API Management, mobile technologies and user support.
  • Demonstrable capacity to develop enterprise wide systems using established frameworks and architectures through projects executed
  • Strong project management skills with effective results focus within an information systems environment.
  • Experience in Multiple Server Operating Systems with strong emphasis on Linux

IT Governance and Projects Coordinator

Job Purpose 

The position holder is responsible for IT procedures, governance and oversight, coordinating the implementation of all IT projects in the Bank and ensure that projects are completed within scope, time and budget. The position holder will also Coordinate on the closure of IT Security and IT Audit observations with other stakeholders and act as BCP coordinator for IT department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with IT senior managers to document standard operating procedures for IT
  • Monitor key performance and key risk indicators and escalate noted gaps
  • Maintain and update changes in systems and procedures
  • Day-to-day management of a portfolio of IT projects in the Bank,
  • Coordinating with Project Management Office to ensure IT projects initiated by all divisions and captured in the bank’s annual plans, or ad-hoc projects. are completed on time, within budget, within scope and within quality specification to generate value for the Bank and customers
  • Work closely with the Manager, Change Management & Projects to:
    • Design methodology and procedures relating to project management
    • Develop the templates necessary for monitoring project progress
    • Prepare project definition and detailed plans for each project
    • Define the responsibilities, work scope and target for each member of the project team for each project.
    • Monitor and manage risks and opportunities
    • Manage the resolution of issues relating to each project.
    • Manage the scope of each project and control changes in the scope of a project
  • Communicate with stakeholders; give updates to PMO on status of each ICT project from time to time.
  • Manage the closure of each project.
  • Ensure individual integrity and professionalism by adhering to legal requirements and ethical standards in order to protect the Bank and stakeholders.

Qualification And Experience

  • Business graduate from an accredited university, Project Management qualifications mandatory.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in banking, a good understanding of banking processes, services and products, with 3 years at Manager Level.
  • Experience in managing projects, especially ICT related projects and coordinating a cross-functional committees.
