Accountant

Colour labels Limited which commenced its operations in the printing and packaging industry in the year 1979 and being in operations for more than 40 years strives to be the leading supplier of high-quality printing and packaging products through improved innovation and diversification with the aim to provide a greater product offering is looking for a qualified Candidate to fill position of Accountant. The role will be based in our HQ in Nairobi Industrial area Nanyuki Road.

Job Summary

Working closely with the Managing Director, Divisional heads, and other stakeholders of Colour Labels Limited as assigned; the job holder will assist in managing the accounting affair of the company and advise on the financial affairs of the company. Establishes and implements systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information. Be responsible and a team leader of the entire accounting office and manage performance of the account assistants assigned to you

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; preparing special reports.
  • Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts, defining accounting policies and procedures.
  • Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy, applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
  • Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
  • Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation; enforcing accounting regulations; recommending new procedures.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Manage and supervise daily operation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, business license, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, and utilities for Colour Labels limited.
  • Manage staff daily workload, coordinate, and review staff duties and performance
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures in the Accounts department.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate work plan; assign projects, programs, and activities; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; identify and resolve problems.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets accounting, year-end closing entries and audit schedules.
  • In charge of monthly financial reports, year-end closing, annual audit, and controller's reports.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Accounts Assistants and Accounts clerk
  • Collect weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports from the accounts assistants and manage the performance of the same
  • Collect and compile weekly and monthly reports of the Accounts Assistants
  • Responsible for budget input and monitor revenue and expenditure transaction
  • Manage and advise on compliance of both statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in management meetings and do presentations of the required reports

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Ensure efficient accounting and monthly reporting
  • Ensuring strict compliance to established statutory reporting/payments and return for all entries
  • Accuracy of records and all relevant accounting documents
  • Establish risk mitigation measures and accounting control processes
  • Efficient coordination and management of internal and external audits
  • Payments to suppliers, reconciliations, and payroll processing

Required Qualifications, Qualities and Experience:

  1. Bachelors’ degree in Finance/Accounting
  2. 7 years’ experience as an Accountant
  3. CPA (K)
  4. Knowledge in using Financing/Accounts Systems
  5. Excellent knowledge and extensive experience in computer applications, MS word, Excel, and access
  6. Organizational and time management skills.
  7. Must be a good communicator, good listener, patient, proactive and with vast knowledge in accounting
  8. Ability to follow instructions, good listener, honest and attention to detail

Sales and Customer Service Reps

A printing and packaging company that has been in operations for more than 40 years and is one of the leading suppliers of high-quality printing and packaging products is looking for qualified candidates to fill positions of Sales and Customer Service Representatives. Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Representatives will prospect, develop new business, and use a consultative sales approach in an assigned territory to sell corrugated printing and packaging products to clients and customers. The sales rep will actively participate in the company’s sales strategy and establish partnership relationships with our customers and future customers. Heavy emphasis on prospecting, relationship development, utilizing value-based selling. The sales process will include collaboration with dedicated customer service representatives and the manufacturing team, to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keeping an updated and accurate list of prospects and accounts
  • Will grow the company's market share both within a potential existing customer account base and new customers.
  • Have initiative and the ability to focus on opportunities and provide the customer/prospect solutions.
  • Analyzing and qualifying prospective accounts
  • Conducting initial contact and subsequent sales calls to accounts, selling, and establishing relationships necessary to produce first time and repeat business
  • Responsible for overall account management, which may include recordkeeping, credit applications, forecasts, budgets, and credit collections from overdue accounts.
  • Assist in negotiation and renewal of sales contracts with clients.
  • Liaise with plant production teams and quality team in handling complaints. Ensure customer satisfaction in terms of product quality, price, and service.
  • Maximize our selling prices while respecting our production costs compared to those of our competitors.
  • Produce on a weekly / monthly basis a follow-up report on customer visits and customer complaints.
  • Work together with the customer service representatives to the satisfaction of our customers.
  • Perform any other task (s) assigned by line manager

Required Qualifications, Qualities and Experience:

  1. Minimum degree or diploma in any business-related courses
  2. Excellent knowledge and extensive experience in computer applications, MS word, Excel, and access
  3. At least three (3) years’ experience in the sale of corrugated printing and packaging products and background in digital printing.
  4. Recognized ability for teamwork
  5. Ability to quickly establish business partnerships and harmonious relationships with various stakeholders.
  6. Strong analytical skills.
  7. Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.
  8. Ability to work well under pressure, self-motivated, time management and commitment to their individual and team’s success.
  9. Ability to use independent judgment in negotiating sales agreements and be able to exercise expertise with difficult or sensitive accounts.
  10. Ability to develop structured action plans.
  11. Commitment to outstanding customer service with a results-oriented attitude.

Credit Controller

Reports To: Head of Accounts

Overall Responsibility:

To ensure that the monthly statements are produced accurately and on a timely basis, and that the credit control administration is well managed. Will actively seek out and engage customer prospects and will provide complete and appropriate solutions for every customer in order to boost top-line revenue growth, customer acquisition levels and profitability

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage in reconciliation, resolution of intermediary statement issues.
  • Process Commissions of intermediaries and ensure timely receipt of the same.
  • Manage premium allocation process.
  • Ensure that the agent accounts are reconciled every month as a control measure before statements are printed.
  • Weekly reporting on receipting and allocations.
  • Continuously engage the intermediaries and direct clients to ensure collections of premiums due.
  • Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential customers to meet their needs
  • Establish, develop, and maintain positive business and customer relationships
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Requirements

  1. An Accounts related degree from a recognized university.
  2. 3 years relevant working experience in Credit Control.
  3. CPA (K) is an added advantage
