About Windle Trust International John Aryam Postgraduate Scholarship
The James Aryam Scholarships aim to empower female refugees affected by conflict and displacement by providing them with access to advanced education in education related fields. The scholarship offers fully funded master's degree opportunities for eligible female refugees residing in Kenya and Uganda.

What the Scholarship Covers
- Full tuition fees for the entire programme.
- Monthly stipend for living expenses.

Windle Trust International John Aryam Postgraduate Scholarship Requirements
Overall priorities: Academic ability, financial need, development impact, leadership potential, and personal qualities.
- Status: Applicants must be refugees.
- Gender: Scholarships are for women.
- Origin & residence: Must be from Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, or Somaliland, and resident in Kenya or Uganda.
- University/course: Must have applied to a graduate course in Education at one of these universities:
- Makerere University
- Bugema University
- Uganda Martyrs University
- University of Kisubi
- Uganda Christian University
Academic Requirements
- Excellent first degree, minimum equivalent to a British 2:1 or above.
- Specific GPA thresholds apply for unclassified degrees.
- Degrees below “Upper Second” (e.g., Second Class Lower, Third Class, Pass) are not eligible.
- Sudanese degrees (except medicine, dentistry, pharmacy) must be BA/BSc honours.
Language Ability
- Must be able to study in the language of instruction.
- English-taught courses may require an approved English test or assessment.
Work Experience
- At least two years of professional or volunteer experience relevant to the subject, completed after undergraduate graduation.
- Applicants may apply before completing this, but cannot be placed until requirement is met.

- Disadvantaged applicants: Priority for women, refugees in camps, those affected by war, violence, or disabilities. Extra support may be considered.
- Family restrictions: Only one family member sponsored per year; dependants not supported.
