The role
We are looking for a Junior AI Automation Developer to join our team and assist with a specific project for our partner in the East African financial technology sector. This project focuses on connecting their core financial systems to more efficient internal processing tools. You will help us build and maintain the bridges that allow their operations to run smoothly without manual data entry. This is a fully remote role where you will learn how to apply automation to solve real business problems.
About Pixel Systems
Pixel Systems is a small, remote software agency. We build the tools that teams actually use every day. We do not build flashy consumer apps or marketing sites that nobody looks at. Instead, we focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and database migrations. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a disorganized spreadsheet with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another.
Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything when we are finished. We use reliable technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain. We are a team that prefers solving operational headaches over chasing the latest trends. When something breaks, we are the ones who fix it.
The role
In this position, you will be moving data between systems and cleaning up manual processes. For our fintech partner, this means helping to automate the extraction of information from financial documents and setting up connections through various APIs. You will be helping to build the logic that takes a piece of data from a bank statement or a transaction log and puts it exactly where it needs to go in their internal records.
Much of your time will be spent testing automated workflows to ensure they are accurate. You will write simple scripts, follow API documentation, and use AI models to parse information that used to require manual typing. You will work alongside our senior developers who will teach you how to build reliable systems that can handle real-world data without breaking.
What you bring
- A basic understanding of programming logic and how to write readable code.
- Interest in learning how to use AI tools for data extraction and processing.
- A highly organized way of working and good attention to detail.
- The ability to explain your work clearly in writing and during weekly calls.
- Comfort working on your own in a remote setting while staying in sync with the team.
- A preference for building tools that are useful rather than just trendy.
- The ability to follow technical documentation to connect different software services.
- Willingness to ask questions when a process or a piece of code is unclear.
Helpful background
- Basic experience with JavaScript or Python, even from personal projects.
- Familiarity with using GitHub to manage and share your code.
- Some knowledge of how APIs work and how to send requests between systems.
- An understanding of basic database concepts like tables and rows.
- Experience with tools like Node.js or React is a plus but not required.
- Previous exposure to spreadsheets and how data is organized in businesses.
- Participation in coding bootcamps, online courses, or university projects.
Working at Pixel Systems
Working here is a bit different from a typical corporate job. We have a flat structure with no layers of middle management. You will work directly with the developers who are building the systems. This position is fully remote, which means you can work from where you are most productive as long as you stay communicative and hit your milestones. We offer a paid role with a competitive salary that reflects the market and the value you bring to the team.
Since we are a small team, we avoid unnecessary meetings and long planning cycles. We prefer to get working code in front of the client as soon as possible. You will see your work being used by real people at a fintech company, helping them manage loans, transactions, and customer data more effectively. It is a practical environment where the focus is on getting things done correctly and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Pixel Systems is a place for people who enjoy the craft of building software without the typical office drama. We value honesty and technical competence. We are looking for someone who is ready to learn and who wants to contribute to a team that stays busy by doing good work for our clients.
