URHOMEBUILDING is a company dealing with TILES, SANITARYWARE, FURNITURE, and HARDWARE.
Overall Purpose
The job holder will be responsible for accurately preparing and processing error-free customs entries on behalf of the company within the laid down legal and statutory requirements for the customs clearance procedure.
Responsibilities or duties
- Confirmation/verification of received shipment documents.
- Confirmation of invoices to ensure values tally with customs valuation for similar items.
- Confirmation and advice on HS Codes to be used for IDF/ entries.
- Ensure documents in files are correct and in order.
- Applying IDF for the KENTRADE System.
- Registering customs entries for all regimes- Export, Imports, Warehousing, Transit, and Trans shipments.
- Preparing the required clearance documents for Port Clerks.
- Follow up with KRA, Kentrade, and other government agencies for approval of entries, IDFs, and other permits respectively.
- Attend meetings and forums especially those related to Customs Documentation.
- Assist on preparation of bonds registration and cancellation documents.
- Ensure forwarding clerks have all required documents for clearance of cargo at KPA, CFS & KRA.
- Assist to sort out any tariff dispute by the customs officers during clearance and clarification on declaration in case it's required.
- Assist the operations and sales team on the customs procedures, clarifications, duty tariff codes that might be required by the client
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- A diploma/Degree in clearing and forwarding from a recognized institution.
- Basic knowledge of Logistics, Supply Chain and Clearing & Forwarding Industry
- A thorough knowledge and understanding of customs legislation, tariffs, import/export documentation, customs clearance, bond management and customs declaration will be required.
- Excellent coordination skills
- Attention to detail.
- Fully computer literate, aptitude for technology and systems driven
- Excellent communicator (written and verbal) on all levels.
- Analytical, accountable and assertive.
- Commercially astute
Experience needed
- Internship/attachment experience is an added advantage,
- Fresh graduates are highly encouraged to apply !
