JUMIA is an e-commerce startup with an aim to mimic Amazon’s success by delivering a wide range of items, from toys to generators across the African continent. Shortly after the startup of the business in Nigeria, JUMIA launched warehouses in four other growing countries which include: Egypt, Morocco, Kenya and Cote d'Ivoire.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Own a revenue target for a portfolio of brand accounts, and build the hunting list and pipeline to hit it.
  • Run the full sales cycle: Prospect → Qualify → Pitch/Proposal → Negotiation → Closing → Campaign launch/execution → Upsell & Retention
  • Build the media strategy for your accounts —Define campaign objectives, develop multi-channel media plans, recommend relevant ad formats and placements, and allocate budgets against the JAS rate card to deliver effective and commercially viable solutions.
  • Negotiate and defend commercial terms, including rate, package structure and annual joint business plans (JBPs).
  • Convert one-off campaigns into recurring investment through performance reviews, insight and proactive upsell.
  • Act as the main commercial point of contact for your brands and for the internal KAM teams across categories.
  • Work with Ad Ops, design, data and commercial teams to deliver campaigns and KPIs.
  • Log all pitches and opportunities in Retool and keep pipeline status current.
  • Report on performance to brands monthly, with recommendations — not just numbers.

Qualifications or requirements

Essential

  • 4+ years in digital advertising or media sales, at a media agency, ad network, publisher, broadcaster, retail media platform, telco commercial team or brand side.
  • A track record of personally carrying and hitting a revenue or billings target. We will ask you for the numbers.
  • Demonstrable experience closing media deals with brand-side clients — negotiating rate, handling procurement, and getting an IO signed.
  • Hands-on experience building and presenting media plans across display, performance, retail media and social, with a solid grasp of campaign KPIs and budget management.
  • Comfort with data — dashboards, campaign reporting, large datasets — and the ability to turn performance data into a commercial argument.
  • Strong client management skills, coordinating multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

Preferred

  • Existing relationships with brands and media agencies in the Kenyan market, and familiarity with the local media planning and budget calendar.
  • Experience in retail media or e-commerce advertising specifically.
  • Degree in Marketing, Business, Advertising or a related field. Relevant sales experience and a credible track record matter more than the qualification.
