Background

British Army Training Unit, Kenya (BATUK) delivers world leading infantry training in Kenya with the Kenyan Defense Forces (KDF) under the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) with the Kenyan Government.

Responsibilities

To work with the kitchen team to produce food for the unit to the highest standard daily for BATUK under direction of the Catering Warrant Officer /Head Chef.

Main duties:

  • Wash and clean utensils and dishes, return to the Kitchen and make sure they are stored appropriately.
  • Clean food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas, as detail on cleaning schedule.
  • Follow all hygiene and Health and Safety regulations within the Kitchen.
  • Ensure proper use of chemical /cleaning products and ensure they are stored appropriately.
  • Assist the chef in the preparation of food and packed meals, as required.
  • Ensure dining and service areas are set up and cleaned ready for each service

Secondary duties:

  • Clean up spillages when they occur.
  • Dispose of rubbish.
  • Follow instructions from the chef or nominee.
  • To deploy on exercises and work away from base location when required.
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with the trade / grade as directed by the MLM.
