LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Job Purpose

The Laboratory Technician will perform laboratory investigations accurately and efficiently to support diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of disease.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, label, process, and analyze patient specimens appropriately.
• Perform laboratory tests according to approved procedures and standards.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and report technical faults.
• Perform quality-control procedures on laboratory tests.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of specimens and reagents.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Follow infection prevention, biosafety, and waste-disposal procedures.
• Monitor laboratory supplies and report shortages.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Communicate critical or urgent results promptly through appropriate channels.
• Participate in quality assurance and laboratory improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills

• Relevant qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology/Science from a recognized institution.
• Valid professional registration and practising licence where required.
• Relevant laboratory experience is an advantage.
• Good technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to accuracy, safety, and confidentiality
