Job Summary

The candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory analyses of biological samples to support clinical trials and laboratory research within the KEMRI/CGHR Malaria Division. Tests include Malaria microscopy, Haematology, Biochemistry, Immunology, and Molecular Biology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory reagents and process biological samples
  • Manage laboratory supply inventory, storage, and shipment of biological samples
  • Perform microscopic parasitological diagnosis of malaria
  • Conduct full blood count using automated analyser
  • Perform biochemistry analysis using automated analyser and point-of-care devices
  • Execute other laboratory assays as per protocol and relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain quality control procedures in all assays performed
  • Develop and update laboratory SOPs

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a busy biomedical laboratory
  • Registered by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)
  • Valid practicing licence from KMLTTB

  • Strategic thinking and strong analytical skills
  • Laboratory technique troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and reporting abilities
  • Team player with strong collaborative skills
