The Aga Khan Academies are an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). The AKDN is a group of development agencies with mandates that include the environment, health, education, architecture, culture, microfinance, rural development, disaster reduction, the promotion of private-sector enterprise and the revitalisation of historic cities. Responsibilities or duties

• Manage the day-to-day laundry operations for students, including washing, drying, pressing, and folding of school uniforms and personal clothing.
• Maintain proper organization and cleanliness of the laundry area, ensuring all equipment and supplies are well-kept and safely stored.
• Keep accurate track of laundered items and ensure timely return and delivery to the respective students.
• Change bed linen and ensure mosquito nets and other residential furnishings are clean, functional, and well-maintained.
• Supervise external cleaners to ensure residential rooms and shared spaces are clean, hygienic, and safe for students.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs in the residence or laundry area promptly to the supervisor.
• Observe infection control and hygiene precautions in all laundry handling and cleaning activities according to institutional procedures.
• Assist with returning used or excess bedding, linen, and cleaning materials to the linen store as required.
• Support the general welfare, cleanliness, and orderly upkeep of student residence and related facilities.

Qualifications or requirements

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent is required.

Certificate in Housekeeping, Laundry Operations, or Hospitality Services is an added advantage.

Experience needed

At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in laundry, housekeeping, or hospitality operations, preferably in a school, hotel, or institutional setting.
