Responsibilities or duties
The Lead Systems Integrator & Developer is responsible for the end-to-end delivery and reliability of the organization’s core data integrations. The role entails designing and own the data infrastructure of a growing, multi-campus international school network, be the primary architect of the school integration backbone building and maintaining the automated data flows that connect our HR, MIS, Library, and Google Workspace platforms. This role owns the full delivery lifecycle: from requirements gathering with non-technical stakeholders, through architecture, development, and deployment, to ongoing monitoring and documentation.
Qualifications or requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.
Experience needed
- Minimum of 3 years in a Junior/Middle Level developer role.
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining production Python scripts for automated data synchronization between enterprise platforms.
- Experience designing and managing Zero-Touch onboarding/offboarding workflows between an MIS and Directory Services (Google Workspace or equivalent).
- Practical experience building and deploying API-driven integration bridges to automate manual business processes.
- Demonstrated ability to own the full project lifecycle: from requirements gathering with non-technical stakeholders through to deployment, monitoring, and documentation handoff.
- Experience implementing structured logging, alerting, and basic observability for unattended scheduled jobs in a production environment.
Added Advantage
- Post-graduate certifications in Data Engineering or Cloud Architecture (e.g. Google Professional Data Engineer, AWS Certified Data Analytics).
- Professional certifications in Power BI, Advanced Data Analytics, or Google Workspace
- Knowledge of Kenya’s Data Protection Act 2019.
- Experience working within the K-12 education sector or with School Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Experience in multi-campus or multi-entity data environments consolidating and reconciling data across organizational or geographic boundaries.
- Experience migrating on-premise legacy scripts to serverless or containerized cloud environments.
- Prior experience in a Lead or Senior capacity, managing technical documentation, code standards, and knowledge transfer for a small team.
- Familiarity with ILS platforms such as Koha, including REST API integration for patron and catalogue management.
