Job Summary:

The successful candidates will be reporting to the Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) through the chair of the Psychology Department and will be expected to teach, conduct research and engage in community service.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Teach and assess at undergraduate and graduate level in the specific areas of specialization
  • Support and mentor students in their lives and career endeavors.
  • Participate in curriculum development activities to ensure that the programs are up-to-date and marketable.
  • Participate in program assessment and reviews.
  • Supervise students’ research (projects/ thesis/ dissertations) at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Engage in research in one’s area of expertise.
  • Engage in service to the University, the profession and to the community.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience

To qualify for appointment, an applicant must have an earned Doctoral Degree in Psychology (PhD, PsyD, or equivalent) in any of the outlined specializations from an accredited University;

  • Prior teaching experience at Undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral level
  • A minimum of requisite publication points as per the CUE Standards & Guidelines, 2014.
  • Supervision of post graduate students will be added advantage
  • Be registered by the Counselors and psychologists Board of Kenya and any other relevant professional body, where applicable.

Personal Attributes & Competencies

  • Excellent computer background and proficiency in Managing technological change
  • Be self-motivated and highly-disciplined
  • Excellent command of the subject area including lesson planning and class management
  • Good emotional regulation
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent research writing skills
