Job Purpose
The Legal Manager will oversee all legal and compliance matters within the company. This includes ensuring adherence to statutory requirements, mitigating legal risks, managing contracts, and supporting management with sound legal advice to protect the company’s interests and facilitate smooth business operations.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide in-house legal counsel to management and all departments.
-Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements, and MoUs.
-Ensure the company complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
-Manage disputes, litigation, and claims against or by the company, liaising with external lawyers as needed.
-Develop and implement legal policies and compliance frameworks.
-Advise HR on employment law matters, including contracts, disciplinary actions, and disputes.
-Protect the company's intellectual property, trademarks, and sensitive information.
-Monitor legal developments and update management on potential impacts.
-Represent the company in dealings with regulators, government agencies, and external stakeholders.
-Conduct staff training and awareness sessions on compliance, contracts, and ethics.
-Maintain proper records of contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
3. Qualifications & Experience
-Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognised institution.
-Advocate of the High Court with a valid practising certificate.
-Postgraduate diploma in Law (Kenya School of Law or equivalent).
-Minimum 2–7 years’ experience, with at least 3 years in a corporate/in-house role.
-Strong knowledge of company law, commercial law, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
