Qualifications or requirements

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) from a recognized and accredited institution;
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
  • Advocate of the high court of Kenya;
  • Member of the Law Society of Kenya;
  • Valid practicing certificate from a relevant professional body where applicable; and
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

Responsibilities or duties

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • Implementing guidelines and policies on representation of the Union in legal matters;
  • Handling legal disputes, including managing litigation, alternative dispute resolution processes, and settlements;
  • Conducting legal research and analysis to support decision-making processes and provide recommendations on legal and regulatory issues;
  • Managing legal risks and implementing effective legal compliance programs;
  • Drafting a wide range of legal agreements, contracts, and legal documents, ensuring their accuracy, legality, and compliance with the relevant laws, internal policies and procedures;
  • Implementing training and awareness programs to the Commission to ensure compliance with the law; and
